who is eligible?
  • children of past and present bank employees whose families are suffering financial difficulties due to a bereavement, ill health or disability.

  • one of the parents needs to have worked in banking and needs to meet our service criteria - although they don’t still have to be in the industry when the Fund is contacted.
  • How do we help?
    The Fund helps out financially in a number of ways:

  • a regular allowance towards the cost of living, to help families rise above the poverty line

  • a contribution towards day-to-day school expenses such as books, school equipment, lunches, travel costs

  • help towards the cost of extra mural activities, such as music lessons, field trips and outings

  • limited help with public school fees for younger children (until they reach the age of moving to their next school)

  • an allowance to students in higher education to supplement a Local Education Authority loan.

    Eligibility is at the discretion of the Bankers Benevolent Fund and is subject to length of service as well as income, savings or evidence of ill health, as appropriate.

    The Fund does not provide assistance for:

  • debt repayment

  • school fees except in exceptional circumstances

  • business ventures

  • private medical treatment

  • situations where statutory or other sources of funding are available
